In a major shakeup of India’s quick commerce sector, food delivery giant Zomato has acquired Blinkit (formerly Grofers) for a staggering ₹4,500 crore. This acquisition marks Zomato’s official entry into the ultra-fast grocery delivery market, directly competing with players like Zepto and Swiggy Instamart. The deal includes complete integration of Blinkit’s 300+ dark stores across 25 cities into Zomato’s ecosystem. Industry analysts predict this move will significantly alter the competitive landscape, with Zomato promising 10-minute deliveries of both food and groceries through its revamped app interface. The company has announced plans to invest an additional ₹2,000 crore in expanding Blinkit’s operations over the next 18 months.
